why amelie feels like a place you can step into
a few thoughts on the colours, framing, and tiny pleasures that make amelie my favourite film.
read the film analysis →currently building pixlumo
hey, i'm ilyas — been coding since 2021.
building pixlumo, making things, and going on the occasional side quest.

hey, i'm ilyas — been coding since 2021 when i made a school website and actually got hooked. went from that to roblox scripts, then started a discounted robux business i advertised on tiktok — hit 3m views and 40k customers by 2024. 2025 was mostly just exams. now it's 2026 and i'm building pixlumo, which is where most of my time goes.
when i'm not at a screen i'm either cycling, reading, or slowly learning piano. also replaying persona 5 for probably the third time. the music taste is there, the genre hasn't been decided yet.

read the film analysis →the meme sounds, unforgettable images, and the moment i realised just how classic it is.
read the film analysis →two very different songs, one playlist, and a case for following the sounds that make you feel good.
read the music post →journey, the sopranos, and the song i kept coming back to when health stuff took up too much space.
read the song analysis →how national identity gets made, Rupert Lowe’s “restore” pitch, and why birthplace shouldn’t decide who belongs.
read the analysis →his family, the mob world he gets pulled into, and why his ending hurts.
read the character analysis →rewatching the film after suddenly losing my hearing changed what i noticed about sound, communication, and the life around both.
read the film analysis →how an underwritten character arc makes his sudden turn as king drag the whole finale down.
read the character rant →my first La Bohème: free front-row tickets, thunderous music, and an evening that moved me more than i expected.
read the story →what long-term planning, connected systems, and the far-off Type II dream can teach us about building together.
read the piece →why the City’s old streets and new towers feel joined up to me, while Canary Wharf can feel too polished.
read the architecture piece →rising rents, rough roads, overloaded services, and that general feeling of everything getting a bit shit.
read the rant →smashburgers, matcha, Spicy Basil, and the feed turning every meal into a stunt.
read the rant →AI-written career theatre, engagement bait, and when someone’s crisis becomes a post.
read the rant →a little pocket of calm, old mosaics, and a different pace from Oxford Circus.
read the piece →connection requests, performative interest, and the professional art of never speaking again.
read the rant →Gothenburg trams, fika, and the calm that hits when I visit family from London.
read the piece →planes coming in low, strangers watching together, and the fun of a free bit of wonder.
read the piece →Amsterdam left me cold. Rotterdam actually felt like a city I wanted to explore.
read the rant →the book’s loud, fearless tourney knight gets a whole lot more room to shine on screen.
read the character study →Peter Claffey, Dexter Sol Ansell and Daniel Ings make the story feel alive; HOTD’s writing keeps its actors boxed in.
read the piece →a World Cup recovery tackle, Enzo’s late equaliser, and why Matt Smith’s Daemon has a similar pull.
read the piece →currently working on a PCB for it and how to mass produce.
the pixlumo story →when i'm not at a screen i'm either cycling, reading, or slowly learning piano.
